My name is Barbara Luegger and it is my pleasure to support the International Forum Gastein as an intern between the 22nd of April and the 27th of June 2014. While helping with tasks wherever I can and assisting the EHFG-team in organising the annual conference in October, I am writing on my Master Thesis in European Public Health at the Maastricht University. The topic is: ‘Missed opportunities’ of the European Union Health Policy as Chances for Future Health Policies and Actions.
I finished the Bachelor in Health and Nursing Sciences and the Bachelor in Pedagogy in 2013 in Graz, Austria. There I got in contact with public health related issues and started to gain knowledge especially about healthy aging and demograhic change first. At the Maastricht University, new experiences broadened my sense for public health needs. The internship at the IFG gives me now the opportunity to expand my professional knowledge and improve practical skills.
With great motivation and curiosity I’m looking forward to the upcoming months and the work within the EHFG-team.
